Buying Solutions is a national procurement partner for UK public services, who are the Executive Agency of the Office of Government Commerce in the Treasury. 

The Buying Solutions Agency maximises the value for money obtained by Governement departments and other public bodies through procurement and supply of goods and services. They are the only professional buying organisation with a legal remit to trade across the whole of UK public services. They provide NHS trusts and health authorities with market knowledge, advice and regional and national contracts for temporary staff, recruitment advertising, and outsourced and business services.

Athona is one of only 53 UK agencies to be approved by Buying Solutions for the supply of medical locums and one of only 50 agencies to be approved by Buying Solutions for the supply of AHP staff.

These Frameworks enable participating trusts to enjoy the quality and cost benefits that have been secured through the new agreements. It brings together both national and local suppliers, ensuring that high standards of compliancy are kept, while also stipulating the total fee any agency can charge.

Athona's inclusion in these framework agreements highlights the quality of service we provide, and the stringent standards of compliancy to which we adhere to.

ISO Quality Management System
Athona is committed to ensuring high standards are maintained with all internal and external procedures and has been independently audited and certified to be in conformance with the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System. The requirements for this system include:

Quality Mark
The Quality Mark was launched in July 2002, as a joint initiative between the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) and the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) to help drive up standards for everyone in the sector. The Quality Mark sets minimum standards for agencies and LAs to reach in areas such as the way they recruit and interview supply teachers, the way they check and manage their performance and the way they stay at the forefront of changes in the teaching sector.

Athona was awarded the DCSF Quality Mark in June 2009 and is one of only 98 agencies/LAs to hold the accolade. This further demonstrates our commitment to complying with the highest possible standards within the recruitment industry.
