Consultant Psychiatrist

General Adult Community – National MDT

Location – Naas, Co. Kildare or Little Island Co. Cork (Nationwide Coverage)

Salary Up To €260,000 P.A. depending on experience

On Call : 1 in 7

Hybrid working 2 approx 2 days on site 3 days from home + travel

Location

Flexible base across Naas (Co. Kildare) and Little Island (Co. Cork) with occasional travel for patient reviews, meetings, training, or service support. Approved out-of-pocket expenses reimbursed per policy.

Authority

·        Report any quality or safety concerns to management.

·        Apply training to ensure the safety and welfare of service users, colleagues, and yourself.

General Responsibilities

·        Uphold the organisation’s Mission, Vision and Values.

·        Provide clinical, operational, and administrative leadership to multidisciplinary staff.

·        Ensure delivery of high-quality clinical care in community residential settings.

·        Conduct psychiatric assessments, diagnosis, and treatment for assigned caseload.

·        Review work of nurse prescribers/junior doctors for appropriate diagnosis, treatment, and documentation.

·        Develop protocols and medication treatment plans.

·        Collaborate effectively with internal teams, GPs, external stakeholders, and community services.

·        Prepare reports and documentation; analyse situations and determine appropriate actions.

·        Participate in service planning, evaluation, and in-service training.

·        Provide court assessments/testimony when required.

·        Complete clinical documentation and medical assessments.

·        Participate in on-call rota, including night, weekend, and holiday triage.

·        Demonstrate strong leadership, teamwork, and decision-making abilities.

Essential Criteria

·        Knowledge of relevant legislation and standards.

·        Minimum 5+ years relevant experience.

·        Irish Medical Council registration.
