Job Description

Currently we have an excellent opportunity to deliver old age psychiatry across Sydney LHD services. They can offer granted private practice rights allowing you to generate income from treating private patients within the public system. Role spans older persons’ acute and rehabilitation units, as well as community memory and behaviour clinics.

Granted private practice rights contribute significantly to the Estimated Total Remuneration.

Salary: Up to $550,000 p.a. (£270,000) – inclusive of super, allowance and earnings from private access rights.
Position: Consultant – Psychiatrist (Old Age)
Hours: Full-time
Settings: Older persons’ inpatient units, memory clinics, and community outreach
Location: Sydney, NSW

Your key responsibilities will be;

  • Comprehensive cognitive, functional, and capacity assessments
  • Management of BPSD, mood, and psychotic disorders
  • Medication optimisation and deprescribing strategies
  • Behavioural support plans with carer and family engagement
  • Liaison with geriatrics, neurology, ED, and residential aged care
  • Leadership within MDTs across inpatient and community services
  • Supervision of junior medical staff and contribution to teaching
  • Participation in governance, service improvement, and research initiatives

For this role, we’re looking for someone who has;

  • MBBS or equivalent registrable with AHPRA
  • Must be on specialist register by CCT and MRCPSYCH
  • Demonstrated leadership in multidisciplinary care
  • Strong community psychiatry experience
