We have an exciting opportunity for a General Adult Consultant Psychiatrist to join an NHS Trust in the West Midlands. This full-time permanent position is based in on a 20 bed male acute ward, with working hours of 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.

 

The role is available to start ASAP but can accommodate notice periods of up to three months.

 

Key Responsibilities:

In this role, your key responsibilities are:

Management of 20 inpatient beds, to become 19 beds in the next 6 months for male patients of working age from across Coventry and Warwickshire.
Management of complex cases, assessing diagnostic uncertainty and instituting management plans .
Clinical leadership of team. Full involvement with MDT management approach.
Role in assessment of referrals/admissions with liaison with the forensic mental health team.
Care plan and treatment formulation, guidance on evidence-based treatment and effectiveness.
Liaison and collaborative working with other services/agencies.
Mental Health Act implementation, assessments of patients for Section 2 and Section 3, initiation of CTOs and liaison with Ministry of Justice around conditionally discharged patients who may be on the ward.
Multi-disciplinary, multi-agency and partnership working.

Requirements:

To be eligible for this role, you must have:

MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
MRCPsych or equivalent
Fully registered with the GMC with a license to practice at the time of appointment.
Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months of obtaining CCT.
Approved Clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
