Job Description

Currently we have an excellent opportunity for an occupational therapist to join our client, a special school catering for boys from age six to twelve with Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties and Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC), including those with Asperger’s Syndrome and those with a diagnosis of ADHD

Salary: Up to £50,122 Pro Rata (Actual Up to £45,947)

Position: Occupational Therapist

Hours: Full Time – Term Time Only

Setting: Specialist School

Location: West Sussex

You will deliver Occupational Therapy across the waking day curriculum using the wave provision of universal, targeted and specialist levels within a multi-disciplinary blended approach to improve outcomes for pupils.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Manage and prioritize a complex caseload, providing individualized 1:1, group interventions, and therapy programs to address pupils’ clinical, social, and learning needs.
  • Implement strategies for emotional regulation and sensory integration, supporting engagement, self-esteem, and behaviour management in line with Education, Health and Care Plans.
  • Collaborate with colleagues using the wave model to develop and deliver tailored treatment plans based on evidence-based practice, clinical assessments, and outcome measures.
  • Contribute to school development by providing input into curriculum planning, staff training, and the creation of therapeutic resources, while supporting the setup of a sensory room and liaising with parents.

For this role, we’re looking for someone who has;

  • Professionally registered with HCPC
  • At least five years post registration experience with least three years in a Paediatric Therapy discipline.
  • Clinical experience including individual and group work
  • Understanding of wide range of physical, perceptual and sensory difficulties associated with ASD, SLCN and associated behaviours
