Justice for Health, a campaign group formed by junior doctors, will go to the High Court on the 19th and 20th September to challenge the new junior doctor contract.

The new contract, which is due to be introduced next month, has been described as ‘unsafe and unsustainable’ by the campaign group.

The group have received overwhelming support via their crowdfunding website, with members of the public donating to cover the legal costs.

Mr Saimo Chahal, solicitor for the doctors, said: “They are fighting not about conditions of employment but about issues which lie at the heart and soul of the NHS.”

Thousands are planning to strike in the first ever five-day walkout when the contract is due to be introduced next month.
