We’re incredibly proud of our apprentices we have here at Athona, so this National Apprenticeship Week we are celebrating some of the great apprentices who have recently graduated, and see what they have learnt during their time on their apprenticeship. Below we meet Saffron, our Resourcer Apprentice.

What were you doing before you started as an Athona apprentice?

I had just completed my first year of Sixth Form, and didn’t feel like it was the right choice for me so I wanted to see what other options were available to me.

What made you choose an apprenticeship scheme in recruitment?

It seemed like a great apprenticeship scheme to go for as the sector really interested me and I thought it would introduce new skills to me, including valuable sales skills and experience, as well as exposure to working in an office environment.

How have you found your apprenticeship at Athona?

I have really enjoyed my apprenticeship so far at Athona, the working environment is very friendly and professional and I feel I have really learnt a lot.

How has the support and guidance you received whilst completing your apprenticeship been?

The support from my apprentice tutor is excellent and working alongside professionals on my team and in the wider business helps me to ensure I achieve my targets, and I know I can always reach out if I am struggling or need any help.

How did you hear about the Athona apprentice scheme?

I live in the local area and read about the Athona apprenticeship scheme online when I was looking for alternatives to Sixth Form, and thought it sounded like a great opportunity to go for.

What part of the apprenticeship did you most enjoy?

I’ve really enjoyed working in an adult environment and being treated like one. I’ve gained so much confidence since working here, and it’s made me realise the opportunities available to me.

What has been a highlight of your role?

Getting to work with such a great team and building really great professional relationships with them. I feel like I’ve been so supported the whole time, especially in getting to understand the recruitment industry.

What have you learnt most about during your time at Athona?

I’ve learnt a lot about how to effectively work in recruitment and source good quality candidates. You need to be on top of your game and I’ve learnt that if you’re not producing results, your work is most certainly slacking.

What advice would you give to others looking to start an apprenticeship?

Definitely go for it as it’s a great opportunity, and try to choose an apprenticeship that will also help you develop as a person.
