Insourcing Clinical Services

Insourcing has become a preferred option for NHS Trusts because it offers a flexible, upscaling solution for patient waiting lists during periods of increased demand. Arranged on a short to medium term basis, it removes the need for a lengthy procurement exercise for fixed term outsourcing arrangements. Our specialist teams have been developed to support Trusts with high volume outpatient and day case surgical procedures – ensuring maximum RTT (‘Referral to Treatment’, which is an NHS-wide waiting time pledge to patients) impact. In turn, this gives your substantive teams time to focus on the more complex cases and patient needs.

Athona Clinical Services

Athona Clinical Services (the insourcing arm of Athona), Launched by Athona Recruitment in February 2020 reflects Athona’s 18 year reputation of providing high-quality resourcing solutions and their commitment to ‘Affecting Futures’ as they support Trusts to overcome significant challenges in their elective recovery strategies. Waiting list pressures have never been more challenging. That’s why our Clinical Leads are committed to understanding your current pressures and providing the bespoke support you need to reduce waiting times. The service we provide is specifically tailored to each Trusts’ needs and is designed to help rapidly reduce the volume of patients breaching operational standards. These standards, such as RTT (Referral to Treatment), are part of an NHS pledge to minimise the length of time patients wait between referral and treatment. Together, we devise a joint plan to tackle the issues faced by your Trust; whether it’s a short-term need to remove the backlog of patients in order to achieve operational compliance, or a longer-term partnership to provide ongoing support. Both routes are focused on positively enhancing the patient’s experience and easing the pressure on your Trust. We support Trusts in the following ways:
  • Provision of multi-disciplinary consultant led teams
  • Triage and clinical assessment of patients
  • Clinically appropriate diagnostics and treatment
  • Onward referral or discharge
  • Follow up appointments
  • Administration for each episode
  • Delivery within your hospital setting

Our experienced teams work in partnership with your Trust to manage the patient pathway end to end. We can provide teams for weekends, evenings or full 7-day services to complement and extend your existing capacity. Our rates are based on a below tariff offering. We work with you to ensure the Trust receives the best value for money by pricing per procedure, or per team, to meet your budget.

Attending events that would allow you to earn CPD points.Enhancing our commitment to customer service through better understanding our candidate journey.Giving you easier access to find jobs on our website and enhancing the engagement of our content.We have already started partnering with industry experts to offer our clients and candidates advice on areas of interest, for example, financial planning advice. Now we’re in the process of gaining our CPD accreditation, which will allow our customers to gain CPD points for attending our events.Throughout 2021 we will be looking at our customer journey and a project team is in place to drive this forward over the next year.
