As we continue to celebrate #NationalApprenticeshipWeek, and join in with #AskAnApprentice, we spoke to Amy and Raphael, two of Athona’s newest apprentices, to find out how they’ve found their first few months at Athona.

Amy works in our compliance team supporting our healthcare divisions, here’s what she had to say:

What is the best thing about being an apprentice?

At the end of my apprenticeship and year at Athona, I will have achieved an NVQ qualification and would have gained invaluable workplace experience – which I wouldn’t have had if I had chosen to go to university.

What have you learnt most as an apprentice?

As an apprentice in compliance I’ve been able to learn the ins and outs of different departments within a top recruitment company, giving me first hand, detailed knowledge of how this fast paced industry works – all whilst earning as I learn.

How have you found being an apprentice at Athona?

The people at Athona have made it so easy being an apprentice here and everyone has been so welcoming and friendly.

My manager, team and the HR team have been so supportive whilst I’ve been settling in. They have always made sure I’ve got everything I could need to carry out my daily duties.

Would you recommend the Athona Apprenticeship Scheme?

Athona is a great company to work for with so many benefits. They are always making sure their employees are looked after and I would definitely recommend their apprenticeship scheme to anyone who is looking.

Raphael works as a resoucer in our surgery recruitment team, here’s what he had to say:

What is the best thing about being an apprentice?

For me, it’s definitely that I get to work and earn money at the same time, whilst also making a difference to the business.

I’m also excited at the prospect that I can work towards becoming a recruitment consultant and be ahead in my career, compared to everyone who is still at school.
