Stewart London, Managing Director of Athona has been named a finalist in the Young Entrepreneur of the Year category of 2011 Essex County Business Awards.
Stewart set up Athona in 2003 with a vision to improve the recruitment service within the healthcare service and a national shortage of Anaesthetists initiated Athona’s first recruitment drive. After successfully building a strong bank of high-calibre anaesthetists, Athona’s reputation for placing locum doctors into hard to fill posts grew, with that so did Athona’s dedication to specialist recruitment.
In 2005, the company launched the allied health division and in 2007 the education division. Today Athona has a turnover of £15 million and is a top ten UK agency for the supply of hospital doctors, with service level agreements in place with the NHS across the UK, including a recent contract win to supply Southend University Hospital NHS Trust.
The awards are sponsored by Chelmsford Training Services. This year’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year category has six finalists and each will receive a field visit and interview. The winner will be announced at the awards ceremony at the Cliffs Pavilion in Southend on the 20th May.
