111 Clinical Advisor

Currently, we have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Locum 111 Clinical Advisor to join an urgent and emergency care service in Gibraltar on a 12-month fixed-term basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse or Paramedic with a strong background in urgent care to utilise their clinical expertise within a varied role combining telephone-based clinical assessment and frontline emergency ambulance duties.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will assess and prioritise patients accessing urgent healthcare services, provide clinical advice and determine the most appropriate care pathways. You will also be required to undertake frontline ambulance duties, supporting emergency responses when needed.

Salary: £39,092 – £42,147 per annum (dependent on reckonable NHS service)

Position: Locum 111 Clinical Advisor

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, including on-call arrangements and rotational day and night shifts.

Contract: 06 December 2026 – 05 December 2027

Setting: Urgent and Emergency Care / 111 Service

Location: Gibraltar

Your key responsibilities will be:

• Clinically assess and prioritise urgent and emergency healthcare calls using professional judgement.
• Identify patient needs and determine appropriate care pathways, referrals and interventions.
• Dispatch emergency ambulances and support effective allocation of emergency resources.
• Provide clinical advice, reassurance, self-care guidance and health education to callers.
• Maintain accurate, contemporaneous patient records in line with professional standards.
• Provide clinical support and oversight to emergency medical dispatchers and colleagues.
• Undertake frontline ambulance duties, responding to emergency calls when required.

For this role, we’re looking for someone who has:

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse or HCPC-registered Paramedic.
• Minimum three years’ experience working within urgent care.
• Experience undertaking both clinical assessment and frontline emergency care.
• Flexibility to work rotational day and night shifts, including on-call arrangements.
• Excellent clinical decision-making, communication and prioritisation skills.
