Job Overview

Athona Nursing is currently recruiting for a Band 5 Scrub Theatre Practitioner to join the Theatre Department at Essex NHS Hospital.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Scrub Practitioner seeking a block booking with a mixture of shifts in a hospital theatre environment.

Key Responsibilities

Provide safe, high-quality patient care throughout the perioperative journey.
Scrub for surgical procedures and support the surgical team during operations.
Prepare and check surgical instruments, equipment and sterile supplies.
Maintain aseptic techniques and ensure strict infection prevention and control standards.
Assist with patient positioning and maintain patient safety throughout procedures.
Work collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetists, ODPs and the wider multidisciplinary team.
Ensure surgical counts and documentation are completed in accordance with hospital policies.

Essential Requirements

Current HCPC registration as an Operating Department Practitioner or NMC registration as a Registered Nurse, as appropriate to the candidate’s professional role.
Relevant scrub theatre experience.
Knowledge of aseptic techniques and infection prevention and control.
Flexibility to work a mixture of shifts.
Excellent communication, teamwork and patient care skills.
