Job Title: RMN – Paediatric Liaison Service

Description:
We have an exciting opportunity for a RMN to work with an NHS Trust in Surrey for their paediatric Liaison service. This full-time locum position is based in a Surrey, with proposed working hours of Mon-Friday 9-5 (37.5 hours a week).
The role is set to begin ASAP and will last for 3 months weeks initially offering an hourly rate of £32 Per Hour Please note that this position is inside IR35
To be eligible, you must have mental health experience and be a car driver. Previous experience within a similar role is required. Must be able to reliably commute to and work from Surrey as there is no working from home. Would also need to be able to start ASAP.
Qualifications required
A clinical qualification to degree level or equivalent
Membership of NMC professional body
Experience required
3 years post qualifying experience, 1 of which must have been a year as a Band 6 in community.
Experience working with CYP with mental health needs in the community. Ability to undertake mental health assessments, risk assessments, risk formulations, crisis and contingency planning and use of outcome measures.
Suitable for someone who is passionate and committed and who can work in a multi-professional team supporting people who use our services.
Job summary
· To provide visible, credible professional clinical leadership, supporting the clinical management of CYP with mental health issues who have presented to the Emergency Department, who may have CYP with challenging behaviour as a result of an underlying condition such as learning difficulties, Asperger’s and ADHD.
· To improve patient experience, quality and efficiency of service in DGH by focusing on the significant number of CYP with mental health issues that can complicate their care and discharge.
· Ensuring the care delivered to CYP with mental and physical health needs is of a high quality, research based, and is CYP and family/carer focused.
· To support the wider paediatric nursing and medical team, by arranging training opportunities to up-skill all professionals on effectively managing CYP’s mental health needs.
· To manage CYP presenting with mental health. Emotional health and social care needs, co-ordinating between the medical, nursing CYPS community teams.
· Be a champion for CYP’s mental health and an effective role model for other team members supporting and promoting a learning environment.
· Work in close liaison with the Paediatric Matron/staff to allocate safe and appropriate ‘special’ nursing care to CYP as required.
