Currently, we have an excellent opportunity for a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to join a specialist mental health service supporting children and young people with complex mental health needs within a residential setting.
This role offers the opportunity to work as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team, providing high-quality psychiatric assessment, review and treatment while contributing to a trauma-informed and therapeutic model of care.
You will work collaboratively with psychology, occupational therapy, nursing, education and residential care teams to develop child-focused care plans that promote recovery, resilience and positive outcomes.
The position offers protected SPA time, paid study leave, peer network support, no on-call requirement and hybrid working options.
Salary: Up to £170,000 per annum / £68,000 pro rata, depending on experience
Position: Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist
Hours: Part-time – 16 hours per week
Setting: Specialist Mental Health Residential Service – Children & Young People
Location: Cambridge, with services across Newmarket and Wisbech
Your key responsibilities will be;
- Provide regular psychiatric clinics and reviews for children and young people.
- Assess mental health needs and contribute to appropriate treatment and care planning.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team across residential and clinical services.
- Provide clinical leadership and demonstrate clear, effective decision-making.
- Contribute to trauma-informed and trauma-responsive models of care.
- Support safeguarding, risk management and positive outcomes for young people.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of therapeutic care frameworks.
For this role, we’re looking for someone who has;
- MRCPsych and CCT, or equivalent, in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
- Full General Medical Council registration and Specialist Register status.
- Approved Clinician status under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act.
- Excellent communication skills and experience working effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- A driving licence and ability to travel between service locations.
