Job Description
Currently we have an excellent opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join a compassionate multidisciplinary team within an acute inpatient mental health service. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, patient-centred care on a mixed acute ward, supporting individuals with complex mental health needs through assessment, treatment, and recovery. You will play a pivotal role in clinical leadership, service development, and ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and evidence-based care.
Salary: £185,000
Position: Consultant Psychiatrist
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (including 1 day remote working)
Setting: 16-bed mixed acute inpatient ward
On Calls: 1 in 6, tier 2
Location: Arnold, NG5
Your key responsibilities will be;
- Take clinical responsibility for patients within an acute inpatient setting
- Lead multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk assessments and care planning
- Act as Responsible Clinician under the Mental Health Act 1983
- Contribute to referral, admission and pre-admission assessments
- Provide psychiatric expertise to multidisciplinary team discussions
- Support service development, governance and quality improvement initiatives
- Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and MDT colleagues
For this role, we’re looking for someone who has;
- GMC registration with Specialist Register in Psychiatry
- Valid S12 approval and Approved Clinician status
- CCST/CCT or equivalent in Psychiatry
- Experience working within inpatient mental health settings
- Excellent communication and multidisciplinary teamworking skills
