Job Description
Currently we have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join a specialist inpatient mental health service providing care for men and women with enduring mental health conditions.
Working within a 36-bed service alongside an established medical and multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality clinical care while contributing to service development, clinical leadership and strategic planning.

Position: Consultant Psychiatrist
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Full Time
Setting: Acute Adult Inpatient Mental Health Service
Location: Exeter, Devon
Your key responsibilities will be;
- Act as Responsible Clinician for an acute inpatient ward.
- Lead clinical decision-making and manage complex patient cases.
- Develop evidence-based treatment plans and care pathways.
- Participate in MDT meetings and patient care reviews.
- Support strategic development of the wider service.
- Contribute to clinical governance, audits and service improvements.
- Participate in second-tier on-call rota and consultant cover.
For this role, we’re looking for someone who has;
- MRCPsych or equivalent Royal College approved qualification.
- Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status.
- Ability to independently manage complex clinical caseloads.
- Experience within acute inpatient mental health settings.
- Strong risk assessment and risk management experience.
