Job Description

Currently we have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join a specialist inpatient mental health service providing acute care for men and women alongside rehabilitation services for women.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead high-quality, recovery-focused psychiatric care while influencing service development and supporting multidisciplinary teams to deliver outstanding outcomes for service users.

The successful candidate will play a key leadership role as Responsible Clinician, contributing to clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives and the strategic development of the service.

Location: Clacton-on-Sea, Essex

Your key responsibilities will be;

  • Provide psychiatric assessments and specialist interventions for service users.
  • Act as Responsible Clinician and Approved Clinician for allocated patients.
  • Lead clinical decision-making, treatment planning and risk management.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in clinical governance, audits and service development.
  • Supervise and support junior medical staff and trainees.
  • Contribute to the senior on-call rota and consultant cover arrangements.

For this role, we’re looking for someone who has;

  • MRCPsych qualification or recognised equivalent.
  • Approved Clinician and Section 12 approval status or near completion.
  • Full GMC registration with licence to practise.
  • GMC Specialist Register entry or within six months eligibility.
  • Extensive experience within acute or comparable psychiatric services.
