Job Description

Currently we have an excellent opportunity for an experienced CYPMHS / CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist to join a highly specialised Tier 4 inpatient service supporting children and young people aged 8–18 experiencing moderate to severe eating disorders and associated psychological distress.

Working within a dedicated multidisciplinary team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering evidence-based treatment programmes, supporting recovery and physical health restoration, while contributing to the strategic development of specialist child and adolescent mental health services.

This is an excellent opportunity to work in a collaborative environment with access to specialist resources, including integrated educational provision to support young people throughout their treatment journey.

Salary: Competitive salary package
Position: CYPMHS / CAMHS Consultant Psychiatrist
Hours: Full-time or Part-time (3 days per week considered)
Setting: Tier 4 Specialist Eating Disorder Inpatient Service
Location: Hatfield, Hertfordshire

Your key responsibilities will be;

  • Act as Responsible Clinician under the Mental Health Act.
  • Lead diagnostic assessments and complex risk formulations.
  • Deliver evidence-based treatment for eating disorders.
  • Chair CPA reviews and multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Review referrals and support admission decisions.
  • Work closely with families and community services.
  • Support discharge planning and community reintegration pathways.

For this role, we’re looking for someone who has;

  • MRCPsych qualification or recognised equivalent.
  • CCT/CESR in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
  • Full GMC registration with licence to practise.
  • Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status.
  • Extensive experience within specialist CYPMHS inpatient services.
