Job Description

Currently we have an excellent opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join a CAMHS forensic low secure service supporting young females. This role offers a highly specialist environment, working with complex cases requiring structured, trauma-informed and risk-managed care.

The service is a 10-bed low secure unit with a focus on rehabilitation, safeguarding, and long-term recovery.

Salary: £180,000
Position: Consultant Psychiatrist – CAMHS Forensic
Hours: Full Time – 1 day WFH
Setting: 10-bed female CAMHS low secure unit
Location: Stockport

Your key responsibilities will be;

  • Provide clinical leadership within a CAMHS forensic service
  • Act as Responsible Clinician under the Mental Health Act
  • Conduct risk assessments and forensic care planning
  • Lead multidisciplinary team meetings and ward reviews
  • Support safeguarding and trauma-informed care approaches
  • Oversee admissions and secure care pathways
  • Contribute to governance and service improvement

For this role, we’re looking for someone who has;

  • GMC registration with licence to practise
  • CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or equivalent
  • Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status essential
  • Experience in CAMHS or forensic mental health settings
  • Strong understanding of risk and safeguarding frameworks
