Job Description

Currently we have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join a specialist neurological service supporting individuals with acquired brain injuries, neurodegenerative conditions and complex mental and physical health needs.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within an established multidisciplinary team, providing clinical leadership across a highly specialist inpatient setting while supporting patients through recovery and rehabilitation pathways.

The successful candidate will play a key role in service development, clinical governance and the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care.

Setting: Specialist Neurological and Neuropsychiatry Inpatient Service
Location: St Neots, Cambridgeshire

Your key responsibilities will be;

  • Lead psychiatric care for complex neurological patients.
  • Conduct ward rounds and specialist clinical assessments.
  • Assess referrals and support admissions into the service.
  • Chair MDT meetings and Care Programme Approach reviews.
  • Attend tribunals, hearings and treatment review meetings.
  • Support clinical governance, audits and quality improvement.
  • Supervise and develop junior medical colleagues.

For this role, we’re looking for someone who has;

  • MRCPsych qualification or recognised equivalent.
  • Experience with acquired brain injury services.
  • Knowledge of neurodegenerative and complex mental health conditions.
  • Strong leadership and multidisciplinary working skills.
  • Excellent understanding of mental health legislation.
