Job Description

Currently we have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join a specialist neurological service supporting adults with acquired brain injury, neurodegenerative conditions, complex physical health needs and co-morbid mental illness. The service provides care for patients detained under the Mental Health Act, supported under Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards or admitted informally.

Working as part of an established multidisciplinary team, you will provide clinical leadership across the service, supporting patients referred from psychiatric hospitals, prisons and the courts. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a highly regarded neuropsychiatric setting while contributing to service development, research and education.

Salary: Competitive + £5,000 car allowance + relocation package available

Location: Cambridgeshire

Your key responsibilities will be;

  • Lead ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Assess referrals and support admission decision-making.
  • Chair MDT and Care Programme Approach meetings.
  • Participate in Mental Health Tribunals and Managers Hearings.
  • Provide supervision and leadership to junior clinicians.
  • Support Clinical Governance, audits and service improvement.
  • Facilitate safe discharge pathways back into the community.

For this role, we’re looking for someone who has;

  • Full GMC registration with MRCPsych or equivalent qualification.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and change management abilities.
  • Knowledge of current mental health legislation.
  • Previous Consultant experience desirable.
