Currently we have an excellent opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist specialising in Psychiatry of Older Adults to join a specialist inpatient mental health service providing high-support care for older adults with complex mental health and cognitive needs.

Salary: £160,000 + benefits

Position: Consultant Psychiatrist – Psychiatry of Older Adults

Hours: Full-time

Setting: Specialist inpatient mental health hospital

Location: Ringwood, Hampshire

Your key responsibilities will be;

  • Provide clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team.
  • Act as Responsible Clinician for allocated detained patients.
  • Chair MDT, CCR and extraordinary case conference meetings.
  • Supervise and support Associate Specialists within the clinical team.
  • Prepare and oversee reports for hearings and tribunals.
  • Present oral evidence at Hospital Managers’ Hearings and Tribunals.
  • Participate in referral, bed management and out-of-hours on-call arrangements.

For this role, we’re looking for someone who has;

  • GMC registration with inclusion on the Specialist Register.
  • Specialist registration in Old Age, General or Forensic Psychiatry.
  • Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex psychiatric presentations.
  • Strong clinical governance, risk management and communication skills.
