Job Description

Currently we have an excellent opportunity for an Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) to join a busy and supportive theatre team delivering high-quality perioperative care across a range of surgical specialties.

Working within a modern operating department, you will play a vital role in ensuring safe, effective patient care throughout the anaesthetic, surgical and recovery pathways while working alongside a multidisciplinary team.

Salary: £40,400
Position: Operating Department Practitioner (ODP)
Hours: Full-Time
Setting: Acute Hospital – Operating Theatres
Location: Gibraltar

Your key responsibilities will include;

  • Prepare operating theatres and equipment before surgical procedures.
  • Assist anaesthetists and surgeons throughout a range of surgical procedures.
  • Participate as a scrub practitioner following theatre safety standards.
  • Monitor, prepare and position patients safely for surgery.
  • Carry out routine equipment checks and report any defects.
  • Support infection prevention through safe waste and sharps disposal.
  • Participate in the on-call/standby rota and ongoing clinical audits.

For this role, we’re looking for someone who has;

  • HCPC registered Operating Department Practitioner or NMC Registered Nurse.
  • Minimum two years’ post-qualification surgical theatre experience.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of anaesthetic techniques.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice.
