Job Description

Currently we have an excellent opportunity for an experienced and HCPC registered Principal Psychologist to join a specialist rehabilitation service supporting adults with complex mental health needs and forensic histories within a secure setting.

Working as part of an experienced multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in shaping psychological care pathways, leading therapeutic interventions and supporting patients through their recovery journey.

This role offers the opportunity to combine direct clinical work with leadership, supervision and service development responsibilities within an established psychology service.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior or Principal Psychologist looking to develop their expertise within rehabilitation and forensic mental health services while maintaining an excellent work-life balance through part-time working.

Salary: Up to £61,492 FTE
Position: Principal Psychologist
Hours: Part Time – 18.75 hours per week
Setting: Level 2 Rehabilitation / Forensic Mental Health
Location: Royston, Hertfordshire

Your key responsibilities will be;

  • Lead psychological care for designated wards and patient groups.
  • Deliver specialist assessments and therapeutic interventions.
  • Supervise psychologists, trainees and assistant psychologists.
  • Provide reflective practice and staff consultation sessions.
  • Support MDT reviews, risk assessments and care planning.
  • Lead service audits, governance and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to research and evidence-based practice development.

For this role, we’re looking for someone who has;

  • HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.
  • Experience working with enduring mental health presentations.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision and leadership.
  • Strong formulation and risk assessment skills.
  • Excellent communication and multidisciplinary working abilities.
