Job Description

Currently, we have an excellent opportunity for a specialist Respiratory Physiotherapist to join a specialist neurological care service supporting adults with complex respiratory and neurological needs.

This is an exciting opportunity to provide expert respiratory physiotherapy to individuals with tracheostomies, long-term ventilation requirements and complex conditions. You will play a key role in optimising respiratory function, preventing avoidable deterioration and promoting high-quality, person-centred care.

Working as the respiratory clinical lead, you will provide clinical leadership and guidance to the wider multidisciplinary team, contribute to service development and support staff through training and coaching.

Your key responsibilities will be;

  • Conduct comprehensive respiratory and airway assessments for residents with complex clinical needs.
  • Provide specialist tracheostomy care, including cuff management and decannulation planning.
  • Support invasive and non-invasive ventilation, including troubleshooting and weaning.
  • Deliver respiratory interventions including suctioning, cough assist and positioning strategies.
  • Develop personalised respiratory care plans based on individual clinical needs.
  • Work collaboratively with nursing, medical, speech therapy and wider multidisciplinary teams.
  • Lead respiratory clinical practice, training, audits and continuous service improvement.

For this role, we’re looking for someone who has;

  • HCPC registration as a Physiotherapist with a recognised physiotherapy qualification.
  • Experience supporting patients with tracheostomies and ventilation requirements.
  • Strong respiratory management skills, including suctioning and secretion management.
  • Ability to recognise and respond effectively to respiratory emergencies.
  • A minimum of one year’s post-qualification physiotherapy experience.
