Job Description
Currently, we have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Social Worker to join a specialist forensic mental health service, supporting adults through their recovery and rehabilitation journey.
Working as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team, you will manage a caseload of service users with complex mental health needs, supporting them to develop new skills, achieve their goals and progress towards greater independence. You will also provide professional leadership around safeguarding, mental capacity and best-interest decision-making, while working closely with families, carers and external agencies.
Salary: £31,000 – £35,000 per annum

Location: Thatcham, Berkshire
Your key responsibilities will be;
- Manage a caseload of forensic mental health service users throughout their recovery journey.
- Complete assessments, CPA reports, Mental Health Tribunals and Managers Hearings.
- Lead safeguarding arrangements for children and adults within the service.
- Lead on non-medical mental capacity and best-interest decisions.
- Liaise with MAPPA, social services, police, probation and other external agencies.
- Support families and carers of detained service users.
- Provide guidance and supervision to junior members of the social work team.
For this role, we’re looking for someone who has;
- A recognised Social Work qualification and current Social Work England registration.
- Experience working within forensic mental health or a similar specialist environment.
- Strong knowledge of relevant mental health and social care legislation.
- Experience completing assessments, CPA documentation and tribunal-related reports.
- Excellent communication, safeguarding and multidisciplinary working skills.
