Athona Director Tina London (pictured far right) raised over £300 for Cancer Research UK in 2011’s Race for Life. Tina ran the 5k course in 41 minutes on a wet Sunday morning in Essex while wearing fancy dress.

Cancer Research UK is the world’s leading independent charity dedicated to beating cancer through research. They receive no government support and are entirely funded by the public, so every penny counts. This research entails finding new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer to save more lives.

In 2010, Cancer Research UK’s scientists discovered that a one-off five-minute screening test could prevent one-third of bowel cancers, which would save thousands of lives.
