Here we’re highlighting just a few of our stand out stories, today we present to you Amy. Amy joined Athona in November 2020 and was most recently awarded the ‘Most Promising Newcomer’ for 2021. What were you doing before joining Athona?
Before joining Athona I was a recruitment Consultant for an Essex based hospitality agency. This was a great introduction into recruitment having worked within the hospitality industry for over a decade.
What attracted you to recruitment?
I love that no two days in my role are the same. I am really lucky in that I have the opportunity to work really closely with our clients and consultants to gain a real understanding of the market and navigate accordingly.
What transferable skills did you have to succeed in business development?
There are so many skills I bought from working in and recruiting for the hospitality industry, many that are easily overlooked as transferable skills into recruitment & Business Development – the obvious being tenacious in the pursuit of your goals, resilient in the process of achieving them and the continued drive to always push forward. The slightly less obvious, is the understanding and appreciation of the roles your team plays in everything you do. This is a skill I learnt very quickly as a restaurant manager and is definitely transferable to my current role.
What has been your biggest achievement since joining Athona?
Playing a part in the swift growth of our mental health nursing desk and team. It’s not only great to see the amazing figures the team are producing, but how each of them are developing into their roles.
