This all depends on where in the UK you work and which type of role you undertake. The average rates are between £22-£35 per hour (if paid by Umbrella Company for a Band 5) or £27-£42 per hour (if paid by Umbrella Company for a Band 6). For more details on how much you can earn as a mental health nurse, please speak to your recruiter.
First and foremost, you need to have gained your NMC registration. However knowledge of psychology, counselling, sensitivity and understanding, patience and keeping calm in stressful situations are all skills you will need to be a successful mental health nurse.
This all depends on your individual experience and we would take time to discuss and look at what type of wards you have worked on previously.
For example, PICU/CAMHS/forensic are all specialist areas and to work within these wards as a locum RMN you will need to have previous experience in this area, as it is vastly different to working on a general adult ward.
