Athona’s AHP division is currently recruiting for a permanent Mental Health Speech & Language Therapist. This position is based in Newport, Wales, working in a mental health setting. The proposed start date for this role is ASAP.

Our client provides complex mental health care and rehabilitation. They take pride in providing safe, compassionate and dignified therapeutic care and treatments for adults with complex mental health conditions.

Their specialist multi-disciplinary teams provide transition-focused healthcare, including specialist assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and education as well as bespoke step-down services. We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist who has clinical experience of working with the older person in complex dementias and neurological conditions.

This post is varied and busy and the team consists of a Band 5 SALT and SALT assistant. The Speech and Language Therapy team are a vital and well-established therapy within St Peters and the wider MDT.

The post also involves travelling to our other sites on a referral basis. We offer paid HCPC registration fees and actively support training to meet your personal development. This could also include training to develop dysphagic competencies.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • HCPC registration
  • The right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS
