Athona Recruitment stepped back to the 1920’s and into F Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel ‘The Great Gatsby’ to host a Charity Ball in aid of Little Havens Hospice, on Saturday 12th April 2014. The event, held at Woolston Manor Golf & Country Club in Chigwell, Essex saw a host of familiar faces including guests of honour World Champion and Olympian Derek Redmond, model and TV personality Jodie Marsh, former X Factor finalist Nicholas Dorsett and Essex Factor runner-up, Chris Daley who both performed on the evening.

With overwhelming support from employees, local companies and 180 guests on the evening, Athona look set to have raised £4,000 from the ball, which will go a long way to supporting the specialist care that Little Havens provides to babies, children and teenagers with a life-limiting illness. Alongside Nick and Chris, entertainment included a performance from dance students at Renee’s School of Dance and Performing Arts as well as a Great Gatsby photo booth and casino.

Athona Recruitment has set themselves a mammoth target to raise £10,000 for Little Havens Hospice within 12 months. Athona employees have so far held a quiz, cycled for 24 hours on an exercise bike in their boardroom, taken part in the London marathon and in July, take part in the London to Paris cycle challenge.

Tina London, Director, Athona comments:

“I’m overjoyed with the success of Athona’s Great Gatsby charity ball, especially with how much money we raised for Little Havens. As Athona’s nominated charity of the year, we will continue to help raise support for them and are delighted with our current fundraising total of over £9,000 for the charity.”
