Athona Recruitment have an excellent permanent job opportunity for a CAMHS Specialty Doctor to work for the NHS based the North West. This is a full-time role, 10 PA’s working alongside fulltime Consultant, and MDT.

Salary: £52,530 – £82,400 per annum

Position: CAMHS Specialty Doctor

Hours: Full time 10 PA’s

Setting: 12 bedded CAMHS unit for inpatients with severe acute mental health disorders

Location: North West

For this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing ward based psychiatric assessment, treatment, mental health reviews to young people admitted to the Hope Unit.
  • To assist their team in therapeutic care & liaison with community services.
  • Where appropriate to contribute to use of MHA & reports for Tribunals.
  • Providing physical examinations, blood tests & physical care oversight for young people admitted to the Hope unit.
  • When required, to run ward rounds or CPA’s in absence of the consultant.
  • Ensuring the accurate documentation of ward based medical care.
  • To provide prospective day time leave cover, between the speciality doctor post holder

For this role, we’re looking for someone who is:

  • Recognised medical degree
  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
  • Eligible for approval under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act.
  • Completed at least four years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be within a psychiatry training programme or as a fixed term specialty trainee within psychiatry; or have equivalent experience and competences.
  • Commitment to personal programme of Continuing Professional Development.
  • At least two years’ experience of working in psychiatry, including working with people suffering from severe mental illness
  • Competent general medical and psychiatric skills in assessment, formulation and diagnosis
  • Medication Management
  • Experience of teaching and training at an undergraduate/postgraduate level
