Meet Sean, he is a Sales Consultant apprentice for our Radiology team. Find out here what his day-to-day life is like at Athona.

What does a typical day look like for you?

A typical day for me is coming in at 8:20 and sorting out my emails from the evening before, making sure anything I don’t need is gone from my inbox and anything I need to sort out is there for me to see. Then I will go onto my LinkedIn and see if anyone has replied to my messages or if anyone new has come up in my search for me to try and connect with. From that point on it will vary between uploading timesheets, calling doctors to catch up with availability or doing telephone registration forms for Dave, Radiology Team Leader and James, Executive Recruitment Consultant. Then at 4 o’clock I switch over to my apprenticeship work which I do for an hour and a half.

What tasks do you complete on a day-to-day basis?

My tasks include: Uploading timesheets, uploading doctors to portals, assigning doctors to jobs, searching for candidates on LinkedIn and messaging them, calling doctors from our system to see if they’re interested in working with us again, completing telephone registration forms and finding accommodation for doctors.

What’s your favourite part about working with Athona?

I like the environment and atmosphere we have on the Radiology desk. We can have a laugh and joke, but when it gets serious then we get on with it. I know that if I need help then they will support me in any way they can.

What is your proudest achievement so far?

I have two. My first is when I started and within two weeks I had been offered a job on the Radiology team as I had made a good impression, knowing I made that much of an impression made me proud. Also the next one is when Business Manager Tanya handed us targets of one hour on the phone each and within three days I hit this target, I didn’t think I could do it at first but once I did, it was alright!

Is recruitment what you thought it would be?

Before I started at Athona I didn’t know much about recruitment agencies. I just thought they found you temporary work and that was it. But since joining I have learned so much and enjoyed learning it all. It is so much more complex than I initially thought and the amount of work and persistence that goes into recruitment is ten times more than what I imagined!
