We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our Talking Therapies desk here at Athona!

Made up of a team of experts, Lewis, Amy and Emily, the team are keen to speak to candidates looking for their perfect roles, as well as assisting clients in filling their vacancies. We recently spoke to our recruitment consultant for the Talking Therapies desk, Lewis, to get to know more about him and his career journey so far.

Keep on reading to find out what Lewis was doing before recruitment, his goals and aspirations for his career and even a fun fact about himself!

So Lewis, tell us a bit about your career journey so far?

Up until recently, I have had a successful career in financial services, most recently for a specialist bank within their real estate division. In this role, I managed their mortgage proposition and I was responsible for strategic development, as well as delivering commercial objectives.

What made you choose a career in recruitment and what are you most enjoying about it so far?

I wanted to make the change into the recruitment world as I love to learn and felt ready for a new challenge. I find it super exciting to go into something completely blind and soak up the knowledge and expertise of talented individuals already in recruitment – and there are plenty of them at Athona!

For me, recruitment is all about personality and building strong relationships with my candidates and clients – something I was unable to have the chance to do in my previous role. I also think it helps that I’m a huge people person, which is why getting to speak to new people all the time is exciting and has quickly become my favourite part of my role.

What makes you excited about working with the Talking Therapies desk?

I think most of us know someone who has been affected by either their mental or physical health at some point in their lives. I am a huge advocate for the saying ‘don’t suffer in silence’, so those working within talking therapies are incredibly important because they provide a safe and supportive space for individuals to explore their thoughts, emotions and experiences. These healthcare professionals empower people, promote well-being, and help them to lead healthier and happier lives. I am extremely excited to work with healthcare professionals who dedicate their time to those most in need, for me that’s hugely rewarding.

Why is it so important to you that your candidates have a dedicated recruitment consultant on the Talking Therapies desk?

Having a dedicated recruitment consultant is like having a personal wingman, as I have the ability to showcase their skills, experience and personality to prospective clients and make a fundamental difference to the candidates life in the process. It also means more time to provide personalised attention and guidance ensuring every candidate receives the support and resources needed to secure their next role. For me, an authentic connection can be a game changer, by understanding their needs and aspirations, both professionally and personally, I can build strong and long-lasting relationships.

What are your goals and aspirations for your career?

It’s early days in my recruitment career, but I always strive to be the best I can be! I consider myself to be a bit like a sponge, I soak up new learning and I am enthusiastic to continuously improve. If I set my mind to something, I make sure I do it! Long term, I want to cement my position here at Athona, working tirelessly to build great relationships, advance through the defined career paths and of course, aim towards the Recruitment Consultant of the year award!

Tell us a fun fact about yourself!

I am a dad to 3, soon to be 4 boys, so I am nearly ready to create a football team!
